Other buildings and statues

The she-wolf is a copy of the original from Rome. The base of the statue is inscribed “Alta citta di Turda Potaissa Roma madre.”

In front of the city hall is found a statue of Dr. Ioan Ratiu. The statue represents Dr. Ratiu during the memorandist process in Cluj in May 1824 when he coined the phrase: “The existence of a people is not discussed but affirmed.” The phrase is found on a bronze plaque at the base of the statue.

On the rectory of the reformed church on Dr. I. Ratiu Street is found a commemorative plaque to Petöfi Sándor, the revolutionary Hungarian poet. The poet stayed in the house for a number of days in July 1849 on his way to the battle of Sibiu where he was found dead.

At number 1 Dr. I. Ratiu street is found the house in which Dr. I. Ratiu lived until 1892. On 1 Decembrie 1918 Street, nr. 1 can be found the Ratiu Family Memorial House which also houses the Tourist Information Center.
